The children in school-age 3 at RisingOaks | John Sweeney are excited to be back at school with their friends. As the school year resumes, children are adjusting well to their daily routines and engaging positively with friends and educators. The children are excited to have Christine again and are building a strong relationship with our new educator Rona. Many are excited to be back and have shown enthusiasm during after-school care.
During the after-school program, a variety of activities are available to support social interaction, creativity, and physical activity. We have been lucky with the weather so far making outdoor time a favourite. Jump rope and soccer seem to stand out as popular activities and some friends have been choreographing some dances. Children have been demonstrating belonging and engagement by encouraging each other, showing cooperation and enjoyment in active play.
Indoors, many friends have been gravitating toward building materials such as magnetic tiles and wooden logs. These materials allow for open-ended construction and imaginative play. Children are observed working both independently and collaboratively, often discussing their ideas or combining efforts to build larger structures.
Creative expression is also a key component of the program. Drawing is a frequently chosen activity, with children using it as a way to relax and share personal experiences. They often talk about their summer vacations, their families, or what happened during the school day while they draw. These conversations provide insight into their interests and help build peer relationships.
Overall, the children appear engaged, communicative, and eager to participate in the range of activities offered. Their interactions indicate a strong sense of comfort and enjoyment in the after-school environment.
