Ball Drop Ramp Play

Program Name: Toddler 2

This month in the Toddler 2 program we brought out our large wooden climber with a slide attachment and we turned it into a ball drop ramp. Lisa taped some paper towel rolls, magnets, and popsicle sticks to create a maze, and then the children were given plastic balls to roll down the ramp.

Our toddlers were excited to start their exploration! We observed different types of play happening such as: ball tossing, ball rolling across the floor and ramp, and laying in the ball pit at the end of the ramp, and swimming in the pile of balls. Our toddlers used some wonderful vocabulary such as, “ball”, “blue”, and “pink”. The toddlers also used the words “my turn” when they wanted a turn, which is such a wonderful way to build on their turn-taking and social skills.

Participation in this activity enhanced gross-motor and fine-motor skills, colour-recognition, and hand-eye development.
