Happy Holi Sand Art

Program Name: Toddler 1

This month, the toddlers were introduced to the theme of Holi as a festival of colours and happiness. The children engaged in a hands-on sensory activity inspired by traditional Rangoli art. They explored bowls filled with vibrant coloured sand and were provided with scoopers and wooden spoons to transfer and sprinkle the sand onto the Rangoli design. With great enthusiasm, the children carefully scooped, poured, and sprinkled the sand within the outlined patterns. They demonstrated curiosity and excitement while observing how colours blended and filled the shapes. Some children experimented with mixing colours, while others focused on carefully filling specific sections.

They enhanced their fine motor skills through scooping and pouring as it strengthened hand-eye coordination and fine motor control. Children explored textures, colours, and the feeling of sand through tactile engagement. Toddlers were introduced to Holi as a celebration of joy, unity, and colours which established cultural awareness. As they worked in a team, they demonstrated their social skills through play and group exploration.

This sensory Holi experience provided the meaningful opportunity for the toddlers to explore colours, textures and cultural traditions in a playful and developmentally enriching way.
