International Children’s Day

Program Name: School-age 2

International Children’s Day is a global observance day dedicated to promoting the rights and well-being of children around the world. This day focuses on ensuring that all children have access to education, healthcare, and protection from harm. It is a time to celebrate the joy of childhood, recognize the importance of nurturing and safeguarding children, and advocate for policies and practices that support their development and future.

This day serves as a reminder of the need to address the challenges that children face, including poverty, lack of access to education and exposure to violence of exploitation.

In school-age 2, we had a deep conversation about children’s rights, which ones do we know, which ones are the most important for us and how can we learn more about it.

Many countries celebrate International Children’s Day on June 1st every year, and focus on children and their rights, and can be observed through various activities, including family outings, community events, and acts of support for children’s organizations. It is a day to remember the importance of children’s well-being and future.

For the children, this is a day full of fun, interesting activities and small gifts. It is up to adults to prepare for such a day and enjoy it with them. Sometimes we adults don’t even realize the value of the time we spend with our children. Let’s not forget that! The message of this day is the idea that all children have a happy childhood, a safe home and good parents.

I remember celebrating this day since I was a child, not only because I was born that day, but because it was filled with joy, happiness and lots of nice activities. This is how I want my school-age friends to remember this day!

Gabriel said: “It is my right to learn how to write”. Emilia added: “It is my right to be loved and have a family”.  Kinley said: “It is my right to eat and have food”.

When children feel loved, cared for, they thrive and can be successful. This is how RisingOaks want children to feel. A place where they engage in and initiate a variety of activities that can respond to their needs.

I can definitely say with all my heart that my School-age 2 friends had an amazing day on their most important day. Their teachers prepared nice and inviting activities, got lots of balloons inflated and let them enjoy it. A sweet treat was provided and served. My heart, as theirs, was filled with so much joy and happiness and smiles. The moment was marked with a craft activity, where children used pencil crayons to draw and cut a paper hand, writing one “right” that is the most important for them.

If we work together, we can create a world where every child can dream fully, live safely and grow. International Children’s Day is a great reminder to cherish and remember the most precious members of our society.

With this being said, we wish our friends to have a great summer, full of as much fun as they had during the after-school time! We will miss you during the summer, but look forward to seeing you again in September!
