What’s Cookin’

Infant

Mom and Dad, you aren’t going to believe what Tami brought into the classroom. A kitchen! Before it was even put into place we were all over it. Thinking about expanding on our learning as we get older this is a great way to increase imaginative and parallel play. Holly was interested in putting the dishes on the shelves of the kitchen, trying to find the perfect spot, taking them in and out opening and closing the door and reorganizing unsure of how she wanted the cupboard to look. David and Callie loved to turn on the element of the stove top clicking them on and off and back on again expanding on cause and effect and showing a little curiosity as to how the burner worked. While Nikola was all about the doors opening and closing and watching the mechanics work. Once a baby was introduced with a chair and tray from the classroom, Aurora left the kitchen and went over to explore. She had bowls and spoons on the tray and was pretending to feed the baby. Imitating the actions of her Mom, Dad and sister at home as well as her educators in the classroom. While we continue to grow in the infant room and turn into toddlers our educators are observing our needs, expanding on interests to create an inclusive classroom for us all. Taking into consideration everyone’s skill level.
