Butterfly Craft

School-age 1

To celebrate the warmer weather, the children in School-age 1 engaged in an experience to create their own butterflies. Using various shapes of colored gemstones, buttons and confetti, they decorated foam shape cutouts of butterflies. James chose some diamonds, circle and square gemstones to decorate his, exclaiming ā€œI’m going to make mine a symmetrical pattern!ā€. Ellery and Freyja decided to make theirs identical to each other so that the butterflies could be twins. The children engaged their creative expression and showed patience as they took their time choosing the materials that  they wanted to use, showing uniqueness to each butterfly. Eliza, engaging in risk exploration was using a hot glue gun, with the support of her educator to place the gems on her butterfly. She showed confidence in her skills! The entire group was proud to show off their finished products to one another.
