The toddlers recently enjoyed a lively and engaging musical performance by Erick Traplin!! The toddlers were intrigued as we guided them out of our classroom and over to the preschool room. Some of them were excited to find their siblings or a friend from the other class to sit or stand with. The room quickly filled with excitement as Erick began playing his guitar and singing for us! The children swayed or danced along for the first song or two. Then the bubbles came out! Bubble machines filled the class with bubbles as he sang his song titled ‘Bubbles’. The children danced along while chasing the bubbles popping them in the air. Erick did a great job keeping the children engaged throughout his hour-long performance. Once the bubbles were over, he invited some of the children to come up to help him out. They played egg shakers and maracas while he played his guitar for another song. The children developed their gross motor skills by dancing and playing their instruments while developing their self-confidence and pride as they stood on ‘stage’ before their class. Throughout the performance there were multiple times to join Erick which allowed every child who wanted a turn to get one. Some of Ericks songs like ‘Spider man’ and ‘You Can’t Catch Me’ are based on actions. The children developed their receptive language skills as they followed along with the actions.
This was a great opportunity for us as our group loves dancing. We often put on music either before lunch or after nap time and have daily mini dance parties. Since then, we have added Erick Traplin’s music to our song rotation as the children enjoy his songs and remember the fun we had at our concert. The performance was a wonderful opportunity for the children to dance, have fun and connect with one another through music. Erick Traplin’s warm, interactive approach made the event a memorable one. We look forward to having him join us again in the future!
