As School-Age Group 2 continues to explore and celebrate holidays and traditions from around the world, they eagerly embraced the opportunity to make the most of Valentine's Day. Infusing their creative energy into the celebration, the group decided to craft their own pizzas from scratch. They began by using heart-shaped cutouts to shape pizza dough, then topped it with mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, and, for some, slices of ham. The children took great care in stretching the dough and cutting it into heart-shaped portions. With the help of mini cutters, they even shaped the ham into tiny hearts. Each child was then given the freedom to personalize their pizza with their favorite ingredients. Indie enthusiastically shared with the group, "I love to bake!" to which Clair responded, "The best part is we also get to eat the pizza!"
The group thoroughly enjoyed the experience, eagerly asking, "Will we be able to make pizzas again?" The activity not only encouraged creativity and fun, but also provided opportunities for developing fine motor skills, independence, and decision-making. Following a recipe helped foster mathematical abilities, critical thinking, memory, and enhanced both patience and imaginative expression. Making their own pizza and then enjoying them for snack was an activity that they all enjoyed!
