Oh What Fun!

Program Name: Preschool 1

On December 1st, the preschool 1 room found a new elf friend who they would eventually name Marshmallow. Our Elf on the Shelf has been up to quite the adventures so far, from bubble baths to hosting a gingerbread day.

Marshmallow hid some elves around the classroom for the children to find. “Marshmallow brought us more friends,” exclaimed Tia, after she spotted elves around the room. As the children began to get dropped off, news had spread and the children began looking high and low for little elves. “These ones are safe to touch,” explained Jessa as she gave one a high 5. The children soon expanded their learning by counting how many elves they could see, giving each one a high 5. Little did they know they had 20 elves to find! We worked together as a group on counting past 10, as it was a new learning opportunity for most. No elves were harmed in this activity.

Loose parts are a big part of our classroom. Loose parts allow children to further their development, focusing on the process when making something vs the product (end results). The children used pom poms, confetti, Styrofoam balls, jingle bells, and acrylic snowflakes to design Christmas sweaters. The preschoolers used their imagination to create unique sweater designs using these materials, while also enhancing their fine motor and pincer grasp. Stay tuned for more adventures with Marshmallow as we count down this holiday season!
