Train Painting

Print
Program Name: Preschool 1

As we continue to deepen our knowledge of trains, earlier this month the Preschool 1 group painted their very own train engines. Using a variety of colours the preschoolers enhanced their fine motor skills by painting a small train. Some children stuck to one colour, while others mixed their colours together to create their vision of what they wanted their special train to look like. The children developed their social skills as they had conversations amongst themselves about their trains and where they would go on their train which stemmed from an earlier provocation. “I’m making the train to the North Pole,” exclaimed Noah. “My train is going to take me to India.” Hanish said happily.

Not only will this be a great keepsake for the children after we complete our train project to take home, but the children have seemed to like driving their trains around the train track that are on the walls in the classroom. As educators, when conducting a project, we continue going off of the children’s interests and expand on their learning. We also listen to the children as they share different ideas they have come up with, creating an opportunity to be co-learners with the children. Next on our combined ideas, we will be turning our kitchen area into a train station! Stay tuned for future project updates.
