Gross Motor Play

Preschool 1

This month in the Preschool 1 classroom, we have to exploring gross motor play. We set up a gross motor area in the classroom with the climber, stepping stones, bilibo chairs (wobble chairs), and the bosu ball, allowing the children to work on their balancing, muscle endurance and coordination. We got the children to put out the stepping stones around the climber so they made an obstacle course to get back to the climber after going down the slide.
Another day we blew up balloons and had the children try to waddle like penguins by placing the balloon between their legs.

Allowing the children to engage and explore in gross motor play allows them to work on their balancing, muscle endurance and coordination.

We will continue to encourage teamwork, being open to suggestions and ideas. We could explore with other various items and continue on building these creations using different materials. In the ongoing weeks we will continue to switch out different gross motor activities to change up our gross motor area.
