Why did you decide to get involved with RisingOaks’ Board of Directors?
I was looking for a way to get more involved in our local community and volunteering my time on a Board. The opportunity to apply for RisingOaks' Board came at the perfect time!

How has being a Director on the Board benefited you personally and professionally?
Personally, it has been such a great learning experience and has been very rewarding knowing that I am helping to make a difference to those in the organization.

Professionally, I have gained a totally different perspective, which has helped me become a better leader and decision maker.

What would you say to a member who is contemplating joining the board but is not sure what they can bring to the table or whether they have the right skill set?
Take the first step and go for it! A strong board needs to be diverse in many aspects, we all have something valuable to contribute.

What would you say to a member who is not planning to attend the AGM because they believe it is just a boring review of the financials?
Financials are not boring! (ok maybe not for an accountant!) Financials are a vital check to the health of the organization and are just a portion of what is reviewed at an AGM. The AGM provides a great platform for questions and comments on various topics, not just financials, that members can share with the board.
