This month at Rising Oaks| John Sweeney The toddlers enthusiastically explored a bunch of fall activities through a variety of hands-on activities.
An educator went to the apple orchard and brought back a few different types of apples for the toddlers to try. The toddlers got to sample each one. Some were sweeter than others but they all enjoyed tasting each one.
We then went for a walk to the forest and collected leaves, sticks, pine cones and flowers. We brought them back to put in our sensory bin to further explore. We explored the textures of the different materials through touch, smell and sight. The colours were different on the leaves and the pinecones were sticky from all the sap.
The toddlers later decorated trees with fall colours. They stamped with red, orange, yellow and green. Creating their own fall trees, similar to the ones we have been seeing outside. They have been recognizing colours and matching colours together.
Through these activities the toddlers are learning about the changes that occur in nature and the things that the new season brings.
