Preschool 2

The Preschool 2 children at RisingOaks Early Learning | John Sweeney explored the power of positive words and how they can help us build a caring and respectful community. Encouraging language supports young children in developing self-esteem, emotional regulation, and a positive mindset. When children hear and use kind words, they begin to understand that their voices and actions can make others feel happy, valued, and included.

This experience invited the children to think about how words can bring warmth and kindness to our daily interactions. To support this learning, we introduced a special activity called the “Magic Words” experience. First, the children learned and practiced 26 positive and encouraging words in alphabetical order. As we explored each letter, the children repeated the words together and talked about what they meant. Some children shared examples of when they felt “brave,” “creative,” or “helpful,” while others connected the words to their friends and classroom experiences. This helped the children build language skills while also reflecting on positive qualities.

Next, the children used these magic words to compliment their peers and educators. It was wonderful to observe how naturally the children began to share kind words with one another. We noticed many smiles, laughter, and joyful reactions as compliments were exchanged. Jenesis proudly said, “You are Amazing!” to Austeja, and Austeja responded to Jenesis with a big smile saying, “You are Joyful!”. These small moments helped strengthen friendships and encouraged children to see the good in each other.

To make the experience even more meaningful, each child received a special magic word that began with the same letter as their name. Dawit received “Delightful,” Isla received “Incredible,” Karl received “Kind,” Morgan received “Marvelous,” Nora received “Nice,” and Saylor received “Special.” The children felt proud and excited to have a positive word that connected with their own names. They happily repeated their special words with big smiles and shared them with their friends and educators.

Through this experience, the children practiced kindness, confidence, and empathy. They learned that simple positive words can make others feel happy and respected. They also discovered that everyone has special qualities worth celebrating.

Together, we discovered that positive words have a powerful impact. By speaking kindly and encouraging one another, we can help make our class warmer and happier. As our little stars grow, they are becoming thoughtful and compassionate individuals who will help make our world mre beautiful, caring and supportive place for everyone!
