This month we introduced exciting activities related to the alphabet and colours that combined fun and learning. Toddlers enjoyed alphabet and colour matching with velcro. The combination of tactile materials and vibrant colours not only captures toddlers attention but also encourages active participation.
Foam alphabet matching with velcro helps toddlers recognize letters, improving their early literacy skills. By attaching foam letters to their corresponding velcro spots, children enhance their fine motor abilities and hand- eye coordination. The tactile experience of handling foam pieces also stimulates sensory exploration.
Similarly, the colourful lids matching activity encourages colour recognition and sorting skills. As toddlers match lids to their corresponding velcro spots, they develop problem-solving abilities and spatial awareness. The repetitive motion of matching and attaching velcro further refines their motor skills and fosters concentration.
Some observations of children: Thomas picked up the letter L and showed it to an educator and said, “it’s L”. Emilia was connecting and disconnecting the bottle lids and shouted, “I break it”. Caleb recognized a letter and said, “K”.
Such activities provide a rich hands-on learning experience that fosters essential developmental skills while keeping toddlers engaged and entertained.
