Ice skating race with little people figures

Program Name: Toddler 1

During the winter season, the Toddler 1 children enjoyed exploring a winter-themed sensory small world activity thoughtfully set up by their educators. A ramp covered with foil was designed to resemble an icy hill, inviting the children to explore movement and pretend play using small figures. At first, some toddlers observed the setup with curiosity and hesitation, carefully watching as educators introduced the materials and modeled how the little people could slide down the ramp.

As the children became more curious, they eagerly began placing the figures at the top of the ramp and watched with excitement as they slid down. Laughter and joyful reactions filled the space as children experimented with different ways to make the figures move. This hands-on experience supported physical development as toddlers practiced fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while also exploring cause and effect through their actions. Children took turns, shared materials, and engaged with one another, strengthening social-emotional development through cooperation and positive peer interactions.

Throughout the activity, meaningful communication naturally emerged as children labeled objects, expressed excitement, and shared ideas. One child proudly held a figure and said “Papa,” which educators thoughtfully extended by describing the figure and encouraging further conversation, supporting language and communication development. Through this engaging winter activity, children also demonstrated cognitive development as they problem-solved, experimented, and used their imagination. This playful experience provided a rich opportunity for sensory exploration, creativity, and joyful learning within a winter-themed context.
