Let is Snow!

Program Name: Preschool 2

This month, inspired by the wonder of the new chilly weather, Preschool 2 has used this as an opportunity to build positive and strong connections within our room. Ranging from open-ended art activities, sensory bins, tuff trays and small world play - our classroom engaged in a plethora of creative and exciting winter themed experiences.

Throughout the month, P2 has focused on cultivating a sense of belonging by finding different ways to incorporate children’s new and emerging interests. Many conversations were had about what our preschoolers love doing during this special time of year, which encouraged us to build provocations and experiences based on our snowy December days.

To support our children’s sense of belonging and well-being, we created learning opportunities based on the things they’ve communicated to us and their peers. A few favourites included: watching the snow fall, going to a park and tobogganing, building a snowman, drinking hot chocolate and watching movies at home.

By continuously observing and listening to children’s interest and play, we ensure that we are creating a place that sparks joy and curiosity in them every time they walk through our classroom doors.

We are so excited for the road ahead of us as we enter 2025, and we can’t wait to continue providing an environment that supports each and every one of our children and their families. Preschool 2 strongly believe that “a child’s sense of belonging is supported when each child’s unique spirit, individuality, and presence are valued.” (How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years. Pg. 24).
