Old McDonald’s Pumpkin Patch

Print
Program Name: Infant

The infant educators have observed that our new infants enjoy sensory activities especially those that involve the coloured sand.

With the arrival of autumn, educator Amanda decided to provide a pumpkin patch in the tuff tray. Amanda added sand, small pumpkins, fake leaves, gourds, a farmer on his tractor, and farm animals to the tuff tray. Henry watched with excitement as Amanda poured the sand into the tuff tray. Ezra enjoyed moving the tractor around the sand in the tuff tray. Matteo explored the sand by moving his hand around the tuff tray in the sand. Willow fostered her sense of touch by feeling a bumpy gourd with her hand.  Carter watched as Amanda threw some leaves into the air and they floated back down to the ground.

There are many benefits to sensory play including fostering fine motor skills, language skills and social interactions. We wonder what other sensory activities the infants will enjoy?
