Program Name: School-age 2

Greetings from School-age 2! Children in this program have progressed greatly in the different areas of development such as social-emotional, physical and language. The program provides children with different open-ended art and craft experiences to enable them bring their vivid imagination into action to create their own master piece. There is time dedicated daily to outdoor or indoor play and exercise time which helps children meet their physical needs.

Literature is incorporated into our program in different ways as another area of development. We all believe learning happens through fun and play. Therefore, children are encouraged to browse the small portable library of the program or bring their own book from home. In our library, there is a small “Reading Corner” for our little readers with quiet background music to be able to sit and enjoy blending, reading or even listening.

Literacy is more than just reading and writing. It’s the foundation upon which children learn, grow and achieve full potential. Literacy opens doors to understanding, empathy, critical thinking, and capacity for lifelong learning. To remain encouraged and motivated, children will be given the “Best Reader Certificate” after finishing the book in program based on their speed, confidence and understanding the topic of their book.

Eli said, “I like this book and each chapter something new happens.” Carter said, “This book was difficult at the start but now I can read faster.” Emma said, “I can’t stop reading as I just want to know what happens next.” Jahmanuel said, “Once you start reading my book, you will love the people and main characters.” Suvarn, said, “I like all the books about science, and I just learned about the gravity.” Jay was so proud of starting chapter books.

We all know reading teaches children empathy and it gives them a window into the perspectives and feeling of others. We continue helping our children to develop all the areas of need based on fun and joyful play.
