School-age 2's Christmas Trees

Program Name: School-age 2

This month, our School-age 2 group has been especially excited as the holidays approach. Many of the children have been sharing their thoughts about Christmas trees, decorations, and various holiday celebrations. Building on their interest, we planned a simple and engaging Christmas tree craft using paper plates, paper stars, glue, and a variety of decorations.

We offered the children paper plates and various materials, inviting them to explore and create their own versions of Christmas trees. Some children chose to colour their plates green, while others experimented with different ways to cut and shape the plates. They also had the option to cut out yellow stars or design their own toppers using the paper provided. The children were provided with glue and had the opportunity to arrange their tree to their own personal liking.

Next came the decorating, the children were offered a variety of items such as glitter, beads and holiday themed confetti and used them to add their own creative touches.

Throughout the experience, the children shared their thoughts and ideas. Fife proudly said, “I am good at cutting,” as he worked carefully and demonstrated strong scissor skills. Elena smiled and said, “I like putting the star on my Christmas tree,” focusing closely as she placed her topper. Rudra explained his thinking to his friends, saying, “You just cut on the line then you have a tree if you put them together,” clearly describing his process. Charlotte also shared that Christmas is her favourite holiday.
