Welcoming the New Year 2026

Program Name: School-age 2

After the winter break, the children were happy to be back at school. Everyone seemed excited to talk, share stories, and start the new year together. To welcome the new year, we planned a creative art activity where children made “2026 posters” using paint, glue, glitter, and various materials. As the children worked on their posters, they talked with each other about how they celebrated ringing in the New Year with their families. This created a warm and friendly environment where children listened, shared, and connected with one another. Alex shared that he asked his dad if he could go in a time machine so he could reach the New Year early. This demonstrated Alex’s imagination and creative thinking. Fife happily shared that he cut a cake on New Year, showing his excitement about family traditions. Charlotte said she decorated her home with different coloured lights, showing her joy and awareness of celebrations around her. During the activity, children showed strong fine motor skills while painting numbers, spreading glue, and sprinkling glitter. They also practiced language and social skills by talking, listening and taking turns while sharing their experiences. This activity helped children express their feelings, memories, and ideas about the New Year. Making the 2026 posters together helped build a sense of belonging and excitement for new beginnings. The children felt proud of their artwork and happy to welcome New Year 2026 together.
