Dear Families,

This month, the School-age 3 children have been filled with excitement and movement as they showed a growing interest in dance! It all started when a few students asked, “Why do people dance?”.

That simple question led us on a fun and meaningful journey. The children eagerly shared their own dance experiences. Some talked about dancing at family celebrations, others mentioned traditional dances from their cultures, and many just enjoy moving whenever music plays!

We explored different styles of dance by watching short video clips featuring ballet, hip-hop, traditional Indigenous dances, and Bollywood. The children made thoughtful observations and asked more questions such as:

  • “Do animals dance too?”
  • “Can you dance without any music?”
  • “Do people dance when they’re happy or sad?”

These conversations inspired the children to create and perform their own dances. We explored how to express different feelings through movement and even worked together to choreograph a group dance to share with one another.

This exploration has supported the children in expressing themselves, building confidence, and collaborating with peers in joyful ways. If your child enjoys dancing at home, feel free to share a story, photo, or video and we would love to celebrate it with them!

Warm regards,

School-age 3
