Winter Adventure, Let's go Ice Fishing!

This month, we embraced the winter season with various activities that brought joy and excitement to our preschoolers. The children eagerly engaged in winter-themed games and crafts, expressing their creativity while also building teamwork2 Preschool children sitting at the art table colouring fish together and collaboration skills. One of the most exciting activities was the creation of their own fishing rods to "catch fish." This imaginative play inspired our educators to expand the activity by introducing more fish and magnetic fishing rods into the classroom.

As the children explored this new experience, they made wonderful observations and shared their excitement:

  • William exclaimed, “Hey, look at my fish. It is dancing!”
  • Mason stretched out his arms and legs like a starfish, proudly announcing, “I am a starfish!”
  • Penelope, with a full enthusiasm, eagerly joined in the Sea worlds with her peer swimming like a fish.
  • Isla explained to an educator how fish swims as she described with her body movement.
  • Arya and Aurora showed the new way to make the fishing rods with the loose part.

These activities highlight the incredible creativity and problem-solving skills of our preschool learners. Seeing the children’s enthusiasm for this fishing activity sparks curiosity about what else we can create together. How can we expand this interest in imaginative play? Perhaps we can explore an "underwater adventure" theme, introducing new sea creatures, storytelling elements, or even a water-based sensory bin to deepen their learning.
