Community Walk

  • Infant

What a beginning to fall we have had. The beautiful weather has allowed up to go for walks in our community. We have been taking short walks in the neighbourhood, which allow us to walk independently and some what freely. Our educators allow us to lead the way, while they follow us along with our peers. Some friends are new to walking or not as confident in their walking we provided a stroller and sometimes we are encouraged to push the stroller from behind to enhance our big body movement. Our educators are helping us to build our large leg muscles, confidence and encouraging our growing abilities.

As we walk through the neighbourhood, we sometimes see dogs and stop to look. We hear gentle reminders that the cars are for the road and the sidewalk is for people, if some of my friends start to veer in a direction unsafe. When we see other people taking advantage of the nice weather we build our social skills as they say “hello,” and we respond with a “hi,” or a wave and a smile. Maybe the next time we go for a walk, I could lead the way and you could follow and see where I take us on our grand adventure.
