Preschool 1

This month, we celebrated Vaisakhi in our classroom. We started by sitting together on the carpet and talking about what Vaisakhi is and why it is special. We learned that Vaisakhi is an important festival in the Sikh religion and that people celebrate it with joy and gratitude. We used our iPad to see how people celebrate Vaisakhi around the world. We also listened to a story that helped us understand the meaning of the festival. We talked about how it is a time for new beginnings and celebrating the harvest. After that, we did many fun activities. We drew pictures of kites, crops, and drums and coloured them with bright colours. We listened to music and enjoyed dancing together as a class. We also learned about the Sikh religion and made special bracelets to represent the Kada, which is an important symbol. It reminded us about kindness and doing good things. This experience supported our development in many ways. We built our communication and language skills by talking in a group, listening to others, and asking questions. We learned about a different culture and traditions, which helps us grow respect, empathy, and a sense of belonging in our classroom community. Our creativity and imagination grew as we drew, coloured, and expressed our ideas through art. Our fine motor skills were strengthened while colouring and making bracelets, as we carefully used our hands and fingers. Dancing to music helped our physical development, coordination, and confidence. Working together also supported our social skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and cooperating with friends. This learning connects to our growing understanding of the world around us. It helped us recognize and celebrate diversity and encouraged us to be curious learners. It was a joyful and meaningful day where we learned, created, and celebrated together.
