August has been filled with joyful experiences, creativity, and opportunities for learning. Children have enjoyed making their own rackets using paper plates and popsicle sticks and then used balloons as tennis balls. As they played balloon tennis, they developed gross-motor skills, hand-eye coordination, balance, and body control. This activity also encouraged children to take turns, follow simple rules, cooperate with friends, and enjoy active play together.
Another exciting experience was exploring the art of henna, a traditional form of body art practiced in many cultures around the world. Children eagerly chose designs and were fascinated by the process, noticing that the henna felt cool and ticklish on their hands. This experience encouraged curiosity, appreciation of different cultures, sensory exploration, and respect for traditions. Children also observed how the henna changed colour as it dried and learned that the stain gradually fades over time.
Magic clay continued to be one of the children’s favourite activities this summer, allowing them to create animals, objects, and imaginative figures. While creating and chatting with peers, children strengthened their fine-motor skills, creativity, imagination, and ability to express their ideas. They also practiced sharing materials, communicating with friends, and making independent choices. Through these experiences, our August days have been filled with exploration, collaboration, creativity, and meaningful learning through play.
