The toddlers in Toddler 2 at RisingOaks Early Learning | St. Brigid, have been very interested in the nature around us while we go on our daily walks around the neighbourhood. The toddlers love to check out the biggest tree that’s on the street as Wesley, Noah, and Katelyn ask amazing questions about the tree! Some of the questions we have heard are, “what kind of tree is that?” and “Why are the pine cones on the ground?” The Toddler 2 educators have been expanding their interests by collecting nature items and bringing them into the classroom for further exploration!
The toddlers also had the opportunity to go play outside in the rain recently! The group had the best time as they jumped and sat in puddles, stuck their tongues out to catch the rain, and even danced in the rain! They were having so much fun they didn’t even realize that their feet were soaking wet! Most of the children required full outfit changes when we came back inside!
We also have read books about the different ways of nature and letting the children take the lead. We wonder what will happen with the children’s interests with nature once the weather becomes nicer and the outside world begins to change? We wonder if they will find many more items and nature materials we can bring into our classroom?
