Animals at Camp

Summer Camp

The children in Summer Camp have been hard at play this summer while learning and exploring in fun and creative ways. While each week of camp has its own theme, we still encourage the children to follow their own curiosity and interests, making the prevailing theme here at RisingOaks Early Learning | St Luke all things animals.

Both inside the classroom and out, the children have explored, recreated, and researched different types of animals and their habitats. Our classroom has taken many forms along the way, from a veterinary clinic, to a zoo, to a safari, and play materials big and small have served to bring our experiences to life with the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking of our campers.

These explorations were enhanced by our field trips to Huron Park, where we got to see and explore local ecosystems, and at Brantford Zoo where we had the chance to see larger animals from all different places. One of our weekly guests, Little Ray’s Reptiles, introduced us to various creatures such as snakes, tortoises, and geckos up close, and later on, the children made owls with Play With Clay. Overall we learned a lot about animals this summer and incorporated them into every week at Summer Camp!
