Despite the chilly days keeping us indoors this month, our enthusiasm for outdoor fun remained strong. We transformed our indoor space into an interactive learning environment, blending problem-solving and teamwork with a Canadian classic-hockey!
To begin, we poured water into our tuff tray and placed it outside, observing the fascinating process of freezing as the temperature dropped. After a couple days, our homemade ice rink was ready for play! Using popsicle sticks and glue, we crafted miniature hockey nets and sticks, preparing for an exciting round of friendly competition.
Before starting, we reviewed the rules, ensuring fair play and sportsmanship and paired up with a partner. With our homemade sticks in hand, we aimed to score goals while Luca took on the role of referee with great enthusiasm, calling out “PENALTY!!” whenever necessary.
This engaging activity went beyond just play- it fostered problem solving, teamwork, collaboration and critical thinking. By adapting and reimagining the game of hockey, we not only embraced creativity but also deepened our understanding of physics, strategy and fair play. A simple idea turned into a rich, hands-on learning experience that showcased the power of imagination and innovation! We can’t wait to explore the game further on a larger scale outdoors!
