As we officially said goodbye to Summer – that doesn’t mean that the exploration and innovation ends within our programs. Although October brings cooler weather and leaves changing colour, School-Age group 3 decided to embrace these season changes and engaged in creating various Fall crafts.
The group started off by researching and printing off different types of leaves, while the educators worked to find and fill their cart with various types of creative expression mediums and supplies; such as paints, string, googly eyes, various loose parts and so much more. Zoe took her creativity a step further and introduced imaginative role play as she created a leaf person by adding googly eyes to her leaf. Other surrounding her quickly followed and created similar designs.
Besides paper leaves, they were also provided with the opportunity to paint various wooden cutouts of leaves. Ella and Lucy were creating an ombre effect on the leaves, demonstrating different artistic styles. Others joined in and were provided instruction by Ella and Lucy on how to create this overall effect.
What would fall be without a Fall wreath? Aria worked hard, demonstrating patience , creativity and critical thinking as she started creating her Fall wreath, utilizing paper plates and the many types of leaves we had already collected, along with ribbon to add a warm cozy fall feeling.
Lastly, we used pastels to trace around leaves, leaving the leaf print behind when the leaf was taken away.
We have been busy so far embracing all the colours and changes of fall in a fun and creative way, using different ideas and sparking our creativity. Here is to many more engaging experiences!
