School-age 1

The JK/SK students actively engaged their critical thinking and collaboration skills as they participated in The Ultimate Amazing Race. The group was divided into two teams, proudly wearing their designated team colours as they worked together to solve a series of six STEM-focused challenges. The race began with students exploring the school environment in search of their assigned coloured box. Through perseverance and teamwork, each team successfully located their box hidden among the cubbies.

In the second challenge, students strengthened their self-regulation and cooperation skills by quietly entering the childcare centre to locate Patti. This task required complete silence, reinforcing the importance of focus and self-control. Once Patti was found, students identified their team colour and received their next clue.

The third clue encouraged literacy development and problem-solving as teams worked together to complete a word search. One student took on a leadership role by circling the words, while others collaborated to locate the remaining answers. For the fourth challenge, students stepped into the roles of engineers and builders, using loose parts to design and construct houses. One team focused on stability, while the other emphasized creative design and structure.

The fifth challenge required students to demonstrate balance, coordination, and problem-solving as they carefully transported pom-poms through an obstacle course. By moving slowly and working together, both teams completed the task successfully. In the final challenge, students applied their critical thinking, perseverance, and teamwork skills to complete a 100-piece puzzle. Although the task was challenging, students supported one another and, with guidance from their leaders, completed the puzzle and raced to the finish.

Overall, The Ultimate Amazing Race provided meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that fostered collaboration, resilience, and problem-solving skills. Through engaging STEM-based activities, students demonstrated confidence, creativity, and a strong ability to work together, making this experience both educational and enjoyable.
