We are so excited to welcome our new preschoolers into the program. The children have been settling in beautifully, and we’ve already seen so much creativity, care, and imagination shine through in their play.
One of the most exciting areas of learning so far has been dramatic play. Dramatic play is more than just “pretend,” it gives children the chance to explore different roles, develop language, practice problem-solving, and nurture their sense of empathy for others.
This week, the doctor’s office has been very busy. Kali-Anne was eager to take on the role of doctor, using her tools to care for her patients. Gently she asked, “Bailey, where does it hurt?” Her words showed both confidence and compassion as she cared for her friends.
Xander was also practicing his nurturing side, carefully checking on his baby doll with his stethoscope. After listening intently, he smiled proudly and shared, “Healthy.” His joy reflected the importance of caring for others and the satisfaction children find in helping.
It isn’t only the doctor’s office that has been bustling—many of the children have been showing a shared interest in dramatic play across all kinds of scenarios. From cooking meals to running restaurants, they have been busy washing dishes, cooking food, and serving meals to their friends. These playful experiences help children build cooperation, communication, and imagination, while also practicing real-life skills in fun and meaningful ways.
We are so excited to see where the children’s imaginations take them next. Their play reminds us daily how capable, caring, and creative they truly are.
As we watch the children explore dramatic play, we see their creativity shining through every interaction. Whether it’s nurturing a baby doll, checking a patient’s heartbeat, or imagining new roles, they are building the foundation for problem-solving, empathy, and collaboration. I wonder how the children will continue to enhance their creativity both inside the classroom and beyond. Perhaps through play, storytelling, and the joyful discoveries they make each day.
